Hear Zade Dirani and the International Musical Assembly, along with the Houston-based United Nations Association Choir, perform on Thursday evening, May 25, 2006 at 8pm in Stude Concert Hall on the campus of Rice University. Tickets will be available soon at www.boniukcenter.org or call (800) 595-4849
Be part of this exciting project! Get involve in one of many ways:
Educational workshops – The Assembly members have prepared educational workshops for children in primary and secondary schools. Musicians will visit schools in small groups to make presentations about their countries, cultures, and their particular musical instruments to both music and non-music students. Also, musicians can conduct “master classes” for music students. These workshops are free; however, we ask that the musicians be allowed to eat a meal at your school if the schedule permits. For more information or to schedule a workshop at your school, please contact Jill Carroll at jcarroll@rice.edu or call (713) 348-5316.
House and Community Concerts – Organize a concert in your home, at your place of worship or local community center. The Assembly has divided itself into small ensemble groups that perform tango, jazz, Celtic, Klezmer, Middle Eastern, folk, Brazilian and chamber music. Musicians perform for not more than an hour and are available for daytime or evening events. These concerts are free; however, we ask that house concerts hosts feed the musicians for the event, i.e. at an evening concert in a private home that includes a dinner, or a lunchtime performance at a company or community center. Ensemble groups are available on a “first come first served” basis.
Attend the “Big Show” with your group – Tell your community groups about the evening concert event on May 25 at Stude Hall. Purchase tickets and attend together for a special evening. Tickets will be available soon at www.boniukcenter.org . You can reserve your tickets now, even before they become available, by contacting Calvin Preece at calp@rice.edu or call (713) 348-4536. Don’t wait! Seating is limited and tickets will go fast.
Feed the Musicians – Provide a lunch or dinner for the musicians. The musicians would love to come eat with you in your place of worship, school, or at a restaurant. While many of the musicians will be performing house concerts and workshops during mealtimes, others will be free and must be fed! Please consider supporting this project by providing or underwriting a meal. Please contact Paul Roby at pvroby@imgh.org or Jill Carroll at jcarroll@rice.edu or Calvin Preece at calp@rice.edu .
Become a Financial Sponsor – Make a financial contribution to the project. The Boniuk Center and Interfaith Ministries are providing the workshops and house concerts to the community for 5 days free of charge. To do this, we need significant financial support. Please consider making a financial contribution to the project. Various levels of sponsorship are available for both individuals and corporations. Please contact Calvin Preece at calp@rice.edu or Jill Carroll at jcarroll@rice.edu .
